Located alongside the Haihe River, Tianjin, with the help of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, enjoys an easy access to the Yellow River and the Yangtze River. Tianjin Port, situated in the Bohai Gulf, is the largest artificial port on the mainland of China. Surrounded by Hebei Province to the north, the south and the west by Bohai Sea to the east, Tianjin finds Beijing to its northwest.

Tianjin consists of 15 municipal districts (among which Binhai New Area enjoys the status of a deputy province) and 1 municipal County (namely, Jixian County). The municipal districts are divided into the central districts, the urban ring and the outer suburbs. Binhai New Area, a state-level new area as a result of a regional integration of the former Tanggu District, Han’gu District and Dagang District as well as Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Area (TEDA), is a national pilot area to conduct the integrated matching reform. As the northern gate opening to the outside world, Binhai New Area, a base of high-level modern manufacturing and a base of modern research, development and conversion, serves as a northern international shipping center and a logistics center and an ecologically habitable area as well.

Tianjin is located in Bohai rim, close to the capital of China, Beijing, and is well connected with major cities such as Shanghai, Guangzhou etc. It’s a railway hub connecting south and north China, from where you can go to many metropolis conveniently. There are high-speed trains to Beijing and Shanghai. Besides, Tianjin Binhai International Airport offers many lines to many Chinese cities and foreign countries.

Tianjin Binhai International Airport: Located in Dongli District, Tianjin Binhai International Airport lies 13 kilometers away from the city proper of Tianjin, 30 kilometers away from Tianjin Port and 134 kilometers away from Beijing. Of the two terminals, T1 is designated for the international flights and T2 the domestic flights. Within the Airport there are luggage storage, banking service and postal service.

Means to Reach the Airport:

A. By Metro: Metro Line Two reaches right there. B. Shuttle Buses at the Bus Terminals are: From Airport to Tianjin Railway Station (every half an hour).From Airport through Hebei Passengers Terminal to Jinyu Passengers Terminal (every hour).From Airport through Passengers Terminal of Tianjin West Railway Station to Tianhuan Passengers Terminal (every hour).Tianjin - Beijing: There are intercity high-speed trains between Tianjin and Beijing, which takes 33 minutes. The train goes about every 10 minutes, which is very convenient. The first-class seat is RMB 65.5 yuan, and the second-class seat, RMB 54.5 yuan.

Tianjin- Shanghai:

There are high-speed trains between Tianjin and Shanghai, which takes about 5 hours. The first-class seat is about RMB 800 yuan, and the second-class seat, RMB 500 yuan. There is direct flight from Tianjin to Shanghai, and marketing price of the ticket is about RMB 600 yuan, but by discount you can easily get it at around just RMB 200-300 yuan. There are currently 4 metro lines in Tianjin which can all be transferred to at their transfer stations. Metro Lines 1, 2, 3 run through the city proper of Tianjin while Line 9 also called Tianjin-Binhai Light Rail connects TEDA and the city proper with a total length of 52.759 km.

Tianjin Railway Station (Tianjin Station or East Station for short)。Located to the northern bank of Haihe River at the junction of Hebei District and Hedong District, Tianjin Railway Station, commonly known as Tianjin East Station, was built in 1888 (the fourteenth year during Guangxu’s reign of the Qing dynasty) and is one of the most important railway stations in Tianjin at present. And the Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Trains start there. Means to Reach Tianjin Railway Station

a. Tianjin West Railway Station:

Situated in Hongqiao District, it holds Beijing-Shanghai Railway, Beijing-Shanghai high-speed rail link, Tianjin-Baoding railway, Tianjin-Qinhuangdao passengers’ line, etc. Location: Xi Malu, Beiyingmen, Hongqiao District, Tianjin.Means to Reach Tianjin Western Railway Station:By Metro: a 690-meter walk from Hexi Campus to Caijing Daxue station finds Metro Line One before stopping at Xizhan station.

Tanggu Railway Station:

Situated in Binhai New Area, it serves passengers by tickets selling, luggage and parcel shipping. And Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Trains travels through it. Binhai Station:

Yujiapu Station.Located at the northern part of Yujiapu Financial District, Binhai New Area, it owns a main structure composed of one floor on the ground and three underground floors with a total yard for 3 platforms with 6 lines to connect the urban rail transit with the public transport. So it serves as a comprehensive transport hub to unite together the transport and production, the passenger services and the municipal public facilities, where passengers can easily transfer among metro lines, buses and railways.

As the world’s biggest and deepest underground high-speed station room, Yujiapu Station has the world’s first large-span single-layer geodesic dome made of a steel structure. It was delivered on August 8, 2015 to Beijing Railway Bureau and was officially opened to traffic on September 20, 2015. The completion of Yujiapu Station marked a beginning to link Beijing, Tianjin and Binhai New Area with a fast-track and the travel time from Beijing South Station and Tianjin to Yujiapu is shortened to 60 minutes and 21 minutes respectively.Location: at the northern part of Yujiapu Central Financial District, Binhai New Area, Tianjin

From the highest point, you can see the scenery within 40 kilometers.

Haihe River Landscape:

“Haihe River Scenery” starts from Sanchakou, and ends by Guangming Bridge, which across the prosperous downtown area, including the scenery of “Haihe Garden”, famous Wanghailou Church, majestic Tianjin Station, etc.How to Get There:a. Tianjin Museum

Wudadao of Tianjin:

Ancient Culture Street of Tianjin:

Among them, Yangliuqing New Year Painting, “Clay Figurine Zhang”’s clay figure, and Kite Wei’s kite are very famous for their Tianjin local culture.

Water Park of Tianjin.Location:

Bonsai arts of both Chinese and western styles are on display and Bibo Zhuang, Mengzhu Yuan are built up there.

TV Tower of Tianjin.Location:

Binjiang Road Pedestrian Street:

Goubuli Baozi (steamed dumplings):

Goubuli Baozi Restaurant with a century’s history used to be known as “Jude Hao”. Since its founder Gao Guiyou whose pet name was Gouzi (which literally means “puppy”) was too busy to talk to customers while attending to them, people who visited his restaurant joked about his ignoring his customers by saying “Gouzi ignores us while selling Baozi”, so came the name “Gou Bu Li” (which literally means “Gouzi ignores us”) which got so popular that its original names was forgotten gradually. As a Tianjin specialty, Goubuli was well-accepted not only by Queen Cixi of the Qing Dynasty in the past and is well-taken by tourists from all over the world at present.

Erduoyan Zhagao (fried cakes):

It was started during Guangxu’s reign of the Qing Dynasty by Liu Wanchun who rented a narrow place located at Erduoyan Hutong outside the north gate. This fried cake with a golden appearance and tasty fillings agree with human appetite very much.

Shibajie Mahua (fried twisted dough):

The late Qing Dynasty saw a man called Liu Laoba having opened a small shop called “Gui Fa Xiang” to sell fried twisted dough on a narrow lane named Shibajie. This smart and able businessman made a different fried twisted dough by adding a lot of fillings made of osmanthus, sesame, green and red silk-like decorations and rock sugar. And that’s what is to be called “Gui Fa Xiang Mahua” afterwords famous for its crispness and tastiness.
